Do's And Don'ts In Ballroom Dancing Part 8

Do's and Don'ts for the man:

How do you communicate quickly, subtly, and effectively to your partner?  With your body - your frame.  Always place your right hand slightly below the lady's shoulder blade and to the left of her spine.  The complete palm should be on her back, fingers lightly resting on the lady's back.  As you ballroom dance, she will respond naturally to a gentle pressure of your frame.  A slight pull toward you as you step back will move her forward.

Always keep your left hand in line with your partner's right ear.  Raise it only when you lead an underarm turn.

Among the worst offenses you can commit is to force your partner to exceed her ability.  Instead of impressing her as a superior ballroom dancer, you'll convince her that you need a few lessons in common courtesy.
